A mesothelioma diagnosis is unique for several reasons:

First, there is oftentimes a long latency or dormant period between when a person is first exposed to asbestos and when the mesothelioma appears. Oftentimes, our clients were exposed forty to sixty years ago only to wake up one day and find their lives completely devastated out of the blue.

Second, there are often multiple exposures to asbestos from a variety of different products that could have contributed to the mesothelioma developing. For example, someone could be exposed to asbestos containing joint compound while doing home renovations, asbestos containing brake dust while doing auto repairs and asbestos containing pipe insulation while working as a laborer. All these different exposures may have contributed to a mesothelioma diagnosis and each of these products may be a potential source of financial compensation.

Finally, asbestos fibers do not discriminate—meaning that non-occupationally exposed people like spouses and children could be exposed from their loved one’s work clothes or from something as innocent as a home renovation project or home auto repair.
